Eliminate overheads and work smarter with SevenDay
We carry the overheads. You keep the margin. The biggest risk most installers carry isn’t on site. It’s the unit they pay for every month, whether the phone rings or not.
Use a SevenDay depot as your trade base and the property costs sit with us, not you. No rent, no rates, no lease, no dilapidations bill. More of every job’s margin stays in your business, and your business carries far less risk.
Your premises get paid before you do
Fixed costs always come off the top. Before you keep a single pound of profit, a business with its own unit has to cover rent, rates, insurance, utilities and repairs.
Those costs don’t flex with your workload. A wet month, a slow run of quotes or a delay on lead times, and the unit still costs exactly the same. That’s how a good installer with a full diary can spend months of the year working mainly for the landlord and the council.
What a SevenDay depot takes off your books
Every cost that comes with a unit disappears from your accounts.
| Cost | With your own unit | Using a SevenDay depot |
|---|---|---|
| Rent | Due monthly or quarterly, usually on a multi-year lease | Nothing to pay |
| Business rates | Charged on the unit every year | Nothing to pay |
| Legal fees | Solicitors on signing, renewal and every rent review | Nothing to pay |
| Repairs and maintenance | Usually yours under a full repairing lease | Nothing to pay |
| Dilapidations | A bill at lease end to put the unit back as you found it | Nothing to pay |
| Utilities, buildings insurance, security | Ongoing, whether you’re busy or not | Nothing to pay |
| Cleaning and waste | Ongoing | Nothing to pay |
| Waiting in for deliveries | Someone off the tools, stuck at the unit | Not needed |
| Skips & Recycling | Managing & payment of skips & collections | Nothing to pay |
What’s left are the costs every installer has anyway: van, tools, liability insurance, phone and accounts. Small, predictable and easy to control.
Keep more of every job’s margin
A typical small trade unit can cost an installer at least £35k a year before any work is done. That’s a lot of work to be done just to pay for your own unit!
Illustrative example. Your figures will depend on your area and unit size.
| Annual cost of a small trade unit | Amount |
|---|---|
| Rent | £16k |
| Business rates | £6k |
| Time waiting in for deliveries (4 hrs a week at £25/hr) | £5k |
| Utilities | £2.5k |
| Repairs, cleaning and security | £2k |
| Buildings and contents insurance | £1.5k |
| Dilapidations (£10k spread over a 5-year lease) | £2k |
| Lease legals (averaged per year) | £0.5k |
| Total | £35k |
That’s a lot of work just to keep the doors open. Run from a SevenDay depot instead and that margin is yours from the first job in January.
Take on more work without taking on more risk
With no premises to fund, your costs rise and fall with your workload. That makes growth safer and quiet spells survivable.
- Busy season: take on more jobs, or another fitting team, without moving to a bigger unit.
- Quiet month: no fixed property bill waiting at the end of it.
- Changing direction: scale up or down without a lease holding you to a building for years.
You decide how big your business gets. Your overheads don’t decide of dictate this to you.
What you get at your local SevenDay depot
A SevenDay depot gives you the backing of a national trade counter network without the overheads of running your own. We are the one-stop shop for window installers who want a reliable trade counter they can count on. Whether you’re fitting a single replacement window or a full house of double glazing with a conservatory or orangery roof, you can get the frames, the glass and every consumable for the job in one place.
We’re an independent trade counter, so we’re not tied to one manufacturer. That means you get the widest choice of systems and brands under one roof. Shop by brand or by style across windows, doors, conservatories, bifolds, lanterns and skylights, and pick up your adhesives, sealants, foam and fixings at the same time.
Our group buys over 8,000 units of frames and sealed units every week. That scale gives us real buying power, which means competitive trade prices, dependable stock and reliable lead times for you. It’s why so many installers have made SevenDay their trade counter of choice.
The Installers Hub brings together everything that makes SevenDay worth the trip: our product range, the support behind it, and the extras that save you time, space and money on every job.
Spend your margin on your business, not your building.
Find your nearest SevenDay depot and talk to the team about opening a trade account. Same products, trade pricing and a local team, with none of the property costs.
